10 Places To Visit When in Noida

Noida is often maligned as a place with nothing to do, and where stopping at red lights is considered rude behaviour. Although the latter may be true, the former isn’t. Well-hidden in corners of the slowly developing Noida are gems that are worth a visit. From sprawling amusement parks, to the only IMAX theatre in Northern India, here is a roundup of some of the little known, and some of the more well-known places you’ve got to visit the next time you find yourself in Noida.

Entertainment City

Established in 2007, the Entertainment City is a large portion of land dedicated to providing widely varied forms of entertainment to people of all ages. It includes some of the largest amusement parks which boast of over 30 different kinds of rides. It has zones dedicated to different age groups of people. But that’s not all; there is also a multiplex cinema, retail outlets, and an indoor entertainment area. Aside from this, it has dedicated a go-karting area.  Oh, and there’s also a water park with a wave pool. Theme parties, birthday celebrations and corporate gatherings are just some of the events that can be held here.

IMAX at Logix City Center

The next time someone makes fun of you for living in Noida, you can proudly boast about PVR’s IMAX theatre here. The little known multiplex is actually the only in Northern India which shows movies in the extremely realistic IMAX format, which includes shaking chairs and water sprays to create an immersive movie going experience.  The theatre is located in an unassuming Logix City Centre. The Superplex has a total of 15 screens, and is the ideal format for watching the latest Hollywood blockbusters.  The tickets on weekdays are surprisingly affordable.

Glued Sector 41


Glued is a gaming arcade and one of the destinations that is geared towards a younger crowd. One has options such as bowling, playing pool, and even rent a small theatre for a private screening of a movie of one’s own choice. If alcohol are integral parts of your outings, the absence of it will be a disappointment. However, the place does serve Hookahs. Located in a state known to shut down early, the USP of Glued are the liberal timings, which allow visitors to get into the action from 9am to 3:30 am.

Known to be a serene place, the Iskcon temple falls under the religious traditions of the        Hare Krishna movement, and is based on the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, and the lessons by Lord Krishna. If some spirituality is what you crave, this is a must-visit spot during your Noida travels. One of the attractions here is a robot which narrates the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The prasad is highly recommended by visitors.

Okhla Bird Sanctuary

This one is for the bird lovers. The Okhla bird sanctuary is home to over 300 species of birds. The artificial lake there attracts many forms of water birds to the sanctuary.  Birds such as Oriental Magpie Robins, Green Bee Eaters, and Eurasian Collared Doves are just some of the exotic birds that can be spotted here. Although one has the option of going by car, a relaxed walk is recommended as the bird calls are much more audible then.  Other animals that can be observed here are tortoises, geckos, Jackals, and water snakes to name a few.

Gautam Budh Park

Also known as the Nandan Kanan National Park, one can expect to see a lot of greenery here. It is an open air animal reserve which has been shaped from natural forests. A lake and over 100 acres of expansive scenery add to the charm of the park. Also present is a Botanical park. One of the main draws of the National park is the white tiger, which is also the mascot here. Diverse animal life also populates the area.

The market here lines the sides of the Sector 18 of Noida. The cramped spaces are no deterrent to shoppers who come here to buy a wide range of goods such as electronics, musical instruments, clothes etc. Its selling point is that it sells all kinds of wares and at reasonable rates. It provides much needed contrast to the evergrowing number of malls in the area.

Godawari Complex

This one is a preferred haunt for most college students in the vicinity and is usually quite packed. Despite the lack of adequate seating arrangements, the various coffee shops and snack joints enjoy a devoted following. Places such as Teasta, Bistro 37, Chaudhary Dairy and Sweets are the most popular among visitors.

Botanical Garden

An interesting outing for the nature enthusiasts, the Botanical Garden is a haven for endangered species for plants and species even include ones such as the equisetum hyemale(horsetail), which is a herb dating back to the Jurassic period. Its medicinal plants section houses more than 200 varieties of plans. There is also a fruit section. Established in the year 2002, the gardens are sprawled over a massive 160 acres of land and provide a tranquil respite from the rat race. A dedicated metro station makes it all the more convenient to visit.

Located behind GIP, the Golf course, as the name suggests is a golfing destination. So if your idea of exhilaration is hitting a ball over and over again with a club as the sun beats down on you, this is the place for you. If reach people spotting is your thing, this would be a recommended outing. The club is also home to other facilities such as a pub, health club and swimming pool, and a library.
