A friend of mine recently asked me where she could find quality fabric in Delhi for a pair of formal pants that she could get stitched later. She had trouble finding just the right tone, size and fitting for the hot summers in Delhi. My mum, who is a designer and tailor herself posed a similar query at me. There are plenty of fabric markets in Delhi but where should one go according to their needs? So here I am with a list of places you’d find the finest Fabric in Delhi NCR.

  1. Nehru Place


This place is an aspiring fashion designer’s dream come true. Owing to its name as the realm of mills, this area is a wholesale handloom and cotton fabric paradise. HP Singh, a well-known name here, has attracted not just designers but all kinds of fabric seekers looking for quality and unique fabric for occasions and non-occasion. The vivid variety of prints, textures and hues on material traversing from linen to crepe, silk, georgette, rayon and net – one can find almost anything that they have been looking for. The cherry on top are the delicious cheap prices.

The summers in Delhi are merciless but the rush of cloth lovers at Central Market in Lajpat Nagar seems to be unperturbed with the temperature touching an almost 50. Why – you may ask. If you happen to be in Delhi on a Saturday Morning and on a lookout for some spectacular Fabric at cheap prices – Jwalaheri Market is calling you! One of skills that would come very very handy at this Market is of bargaining. You may find something better than you’d earlier thought and hence we call this market a paradise of possibilities. One may find dye shops and lace shops, too, which aren’t too expensive either.
