With Delhi schools closed for the summer, students have gained a well-earned break from the grind of classes. However, in order to utilise this time well, it would be recommended to indulge in extracurricular activities that are appealing to them. The following is a list of various camps being organised in the city over the summer breaks which can serve as an outlet for creative expression.
Summer Slam Camp
If you’re a teen, then you will have noticed that you are full of angst. A great outlet for all the confusing angst you’re feeling is poetry. All the budding poets and writers out there will find the idea of this camp particularly appealing. The Summer Slam Camp is a month long exercise during which participants will get to hone their slam poetry and spoken word skills. International slam poetry titans such as Kyle Louw from South Africa and Ikenna Onyegbula from Canada will work along with the students and guide them towards perfecting the artform. 40 hours of sessions will be included as part of the package.

Reading Thursdays by Story Monkeys
Intended to make reading and learning a fun experience, Reading Thursdays is an experience geared towards not only easing children into the immersive world of books, but also helps them become better listeners. Animated discussions about books and spirited narrations keep the children engrossed.

This one is dedicated to the robotic fanatics. The one week long summer camp centred around robotics will feature many group as well as individual activities. Students will be given a multipurpose Robotics Kit Package and a Robotic Kit to aid them as tools of learning. Children will be taught an array of components of robotics such as advanced programming, basics of electronics, teamwork, making the 7 different kinds of robots etc. A certificate will be provided at the culmination of the course.

Playful Minds Summer Camp
Located in South Delhi, Playful Minds offers a bunch of activities for children that are educational in nature but also fun to partake in. They have a preschool as well as afterschool programmes. Small group sizes ensure that children are given specific individual attention. The preschool programme includes the ‘Music Together’ programme. The school is also associated with Trinity school of London, and offers Bronze certification in speech, drama for pre-schoolers. HOHO Bus Summer Camp
Sponsored by Delhi Tourism, the Hop On Hop Off bus tour provides a glimpse into the rich heritage of the capital of India. This camp is unique because it offers the joy of exploring the city and combines it with learning at the same time. Children will be taken around the city on a bus tour as a part of this camp. Some of the places included on the list of places include India Gate, National Rail Museum, Old Fort, Dilli Haat, Delhi Zoo, the astronomical observatory at Jantar Mantar etc. One has the option of boating at India Gate as well as Old Fort. Geographical, historical facts about Delhi will be announced by an on-board guide during the tour. Aside from that, the bus also comes with automatic commentary systems installed.

Creative Writing camp

The workshop will conclude with the performance of a play.
